For Little Stars, childhood is a celebration and we ensure that our Stars make the most of every moment. Everyday offers something new for our children, however we have a daily routine to provide a structure to their days. Our day at this most loved preschool in Roodepoort offers an amalgamation of individual, group, indoor and outdoor activities that cater to all stages of development.
A great day begins with a good morning! As the gates open, we gear up to welcome our little bundles of joy who fill the castle of love with happiness. A set of activities are planned in the hall to help our Little Stars settle down. And, who doesn’t love puzzles and block towers? Some months also feature a theme colour that is woven throughout free play activities.
Every day here is a celebration of life and thus, all the festivals and events are celebrated with grandeur through a special assembly, be it our Little Stars birthdays or festivals like heritage day, Easter day, Grand Parents day or Spring day At our assembly, together, Our Stars participate in morning songs and also indulge in physical brain exercises.
Our favourite activity at Little Stars is the Circle Time! Here, the toddlers are seated in a circle and the teachers indulge them in fun conversations where they can freely express their thoughts this is assisted with puppet play. Circle Time is divided into five rounds:
1. Warming up
2. Meeting up
3. Opening up
4. Cheering up
5. Calming Down
The aim of each round is to allow the Little Stars to freely share their thoughts with their peers and learn about their surroundings and the world in a fun way.
At Little Stars, letters and numbers are not just modes of expression but our Stars best friends. We simply love to be the cupid and introduce them to magic of words and rhymes! Our outstanding curriculum books are filled with delightful activities and illustrations to provide a wholesome learning experience with a focus on pre-reading, pre-numbers and pattern writing. Our special phonics books also introduce them to phonetic sound and improve recognition of words and letters. Other curricular activities include:
1. Computer Time
At the computer room the recapitulation of concepts are done as audio visuals for this tech savvy generation to grasp swiftly and easily. They also have game time to teach them the skills of working with a computer.
2. Theme Based Activity
The children here learn about the days of the week, the weather and about the monthly theme such as ‘My Family’
3. Story Time
The teachers recite wonderful stories to the Little Stars using props and backdrops which enhances their social habits, imaginative skills and ensures language development.
To make the Little Stars stronger & sharper, a balanced diet is a must! Our in house kitchen helps provide hygienic and nutritious food which is tasted by the chef first and then served to the little ones during their lunch time.
Sports is a focus area when it comes to physical development of the students and we ensure they simply enjoy ball, beanbags, hoops, obstacle course, movement to music ect. Along with playtime in our play area. Natural growth occurs best when children have lots of fun. This way we also enhance the gross motor skills of the Little Stars.
As the day ends we ensure a smooth and safe dispersal process, children will not be given to anyone except the pre-arranged pickup. This safe handover process ensures safe collection every day. The excitement with which the Little Stars share about their day with their parents is a sight to witness!
